Boho Braids Install featuring Harlem Kima Water Wave Bulk
Share
Hi guys welcome to my first braider visit Vlog!
I’ve been wanting to do a series for ages now where I visit different braiders, in Melbourne and just take you guys along for the ride. And I’m really happy that this is the first of that series.
Fort my first braider visit, I did a collaboration with the lovely Maria from Aloe braids. She is a home braider based in Malvern. And the hair that we used was the Xpression 52” Ultra braid and the Harlem Kima Human Hair blend water wave bulk. Both in the colour 4.
Shekinah agreed to be the model for us so that I could film. She is actually an African Australian model, and we met on Instagram. It was actually my first time meeting both Shekinah and Maria, and the vibes were immaculate!
Maria is a Colombian born braider, and she has been braiding since she was a kid. She’s been living in Melbourne for a couple of years now, and it was really good to get to know her. It’s kind of amazing how braids transcend cultures, and this experience made me appreciate the cultural diversity that we have, especially in Australia.
I will link both of their socials here:
The style Shekinah chose to do was the medium size boho knotless braids and this style cost $350 minus the hair, which I supplied from my store. Maria used 1 pack of synthetic hair and 1 pack of human hair for this style. So the cost of that was $25 for the Xpression Ultra braid synthetic hair and $54 for the human hair braid, so a total of $79 AUD.
Because Shekinah wanted the braids mid back, we went with the Xpression 52” Ultra braid. This hair is super soft and easy to use, and Maria even mentioned that the hair was not tangling at all while she braided. So she made really good time.
The human hair that we used was the Harlem Kima quick boho human hair blend braid. This is the water wave pattern, so it’s small curls. I wasn’t sure if the deep bulk or the water wave style would be better but this is what I chose to try out this time.
We really had a great time doing this install. It was like a girls’ bonding session, and we literally had so much fun. I feel like going to a braider is like going to a therapist sometimes. A bit like how guys have the barber, we have our braiders.
I also have to mention that it was so hospitable of Maria as to have us in her space and allow me to film this install. She really made us feel welcome and at home, and so I couldn’t recommend her enough if you’re looking for a braider in Melbourne’s inner suburbs.
I know there’s a lot of home based braiders across the country and I have quite a few following me on my Instagram account so I love to be able to support them coz they’re doing something they truly love and are skilled at. So I feel like it’s a priviledge to be able to give them a platform as well.
I’ve got a series on my Instagram page where I feature braiders from across the country, in different suburbs so that people can be able to find a braider close to them. So you can check that out if you’re looking for a braider near you.
I look forward to doing more braider visits in the future. And you can follow me on Youtube for more braider VLOGs.
